Pakistan, Türkiye sign agreement to strengthen security cooperation

Pakistan and Türkiye have signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in combating terrorism, narcotics trafficking and organized crime.

The agreement was signed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Turkish counterpart Mustafa Ciftci in Istanbul today.

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed to establish a Joint Working Group to strengthen the cooperation between the two interior ministries.

‎Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed his Turkish counterpart on the positive results of Pakistan’s crackdown against the illegal immigration mafia.

‎Speaking on the occasion, Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci appreciated Pakistan's effective measures, noting that the rate of illegal immigration from Pakistan to Türkiye has significantly declined from seventy percent to seventeen percent.

Both sides also agreed to expand bilateral collaboration through technical assistance, exchange of experts, and joint measures.

The meeting also focused on enhancing collaboration in cyber policing, the Anti-Narcotics Force, the National Police Academy and other relevant fields.
