Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Chaudhry Salik Hussain has urged governments, religious scholars, and community leaders to create environments, where girls feel safe and supported in their pursuit for education.

He was addressing Scholars' Session in connection with the "Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities," in Islamabad this afternoon. Chaudhry Salik Hussain stressed the need to providing scholarships and financial aid, establishing safe and accessible schools, promoting awareness about the Islamic perspective on women's education and engaging religious leaders to address cultural misconceptions.

The Minister said technology and innovation provide unprecedented opportunities for education. He said e-learning platforms, community based initiatives, and public-private partnership can play a vital role in advancing girls education in Muslim communities.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain called for reaffirming the commitment to ensuring that girls in Muslim communities are empowered through education and dispelled misconceptions, break down barriers and pave the way for a brighter and more inclusive future, where every woman can contribute to the progress and prosperity of the society.

Highlighting the importance of girls' education, the Minister said women hold a central position in society as mothers, daughters, wives as well as professionals and each of these roles requires knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

He said an educated mother instills values, ethics and love for learning in her children, shaping future leaders of society.

Quoting Muslim jurists and scholars, Chaudhry Salik Hussain said the pursuit of public good is objective of law and governance in Islam. The Holy Quran urges Muslims to improve their communal lives to support one another and to combat poverty.
