Pakistan reaffirms commitment to advocate for Kashmiris' rights
January 10, 2025

Pakistan says it will continue to raise voice for Kashmiris for their inalienable, UN-sanctioned right to determination.

Talking to a twelve-member delegation of the students belonging to Eckerd College, St. Petersburg Florida, in New York, Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Usman Jadoon underlined the centrality of the Kashmir cause to Pakistan's foreign policy.

He said there could neither be sustainable peace in South Asia nor can regional economic potential be unlocked unless the longstanding issue of Jammu and Kashmir is resolved in line with the UN Security Council resolutions as well as aspirations of Kashmiris.

Ambassador Usman Jadoon described Israel’s ongoing genocidal war in Gaza as a failure of the international system characterized by paralysis of the UN Security Council. He said that unless Palestinians are granted the right to form their State, the broader Middle East region would continue to remain on the boil, threatening peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Usman Jadoon said Pakistan is staunchly opposed to the addition of new permanent members to the Security Council. He said that as part of Uniting for Consensus (UfC) group, Pakistan wants the reform process to be undertaken in such a way that makes the Council more democratic, efficient, transparent and accountable.
