Iran's military launched annual drill Zolfaqar-99 in the Gulf near the strategic Strait of Hormuz waterway on Thursday.

According to Iranian state media, Commander of the manoeuvre, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the three-day exercise is aimed at improving Tehran's military might to confront foreign threats and any possible invasion.

Naval, air and ground forces, including submarines and drones are participating in the war games.
