PTI failed to strengthen KP’s security institutions: Tarar
October 10, 2026

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that successive Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf governments have prioritised political agitation over public welfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past thirteen years.

He was addressing a news conference along with Prime Minister's Coordinator Ikhtiar Wali Khan and MPA Jalal Khan in Islamabad today.

He said the province, once known for its natural beauty, peaceful environment and tourist attractions, had been deprived of the development and facilities its people deserved.

The information minister said the return and resettlement of militants in settled areas following military operations, including Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, had undermined efforts to restore peace.

He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had received seven hundred billion rupees through the National Finance Commission during the PTI government's tenure but failed to strengthen security institutions such as the Counter-Terrorism Department, police force and forensic laboratories.

The minister said no Safe City cameras were installed in the erstwhile tribal districts. Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is the B-team of the TTP and they do not condemn terrorists.

He also criticized the former PTI chairman's approach to governance, referring to frequent meetings with spokespersons and insufficient engagement with routine economic and administrative matters.
