Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has reiterated Pakistan's commitment for regional cooperation under the banner of South Asian Association Regional Cooperation.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with the 40th SAARC Charter Day in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said the dream of a prosperous South Asia requires removing barriers and fostering cooperation.
He said textile cooperation among SAARC nations can increase competitiveness and diversify markets.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said economic cooperation can lift millions of people out of poverty by creating employment opportunities.
He said rising temperatures and natural disasters are disproportionately affecting the region and environmental problems can be reduced by common industrial policies and technological development.
The Minister called for creating an enabling environment for conflict resolution, confidence building and investment.
He said the SAARC platform must be reactivated as Pakistan has always been keen to promote regional cooperation.
