Pakistan, Spain agree to activate parliamentary friendship groups

Pakistan and Spain have agreed to activate parliamentary friendship groups to promote cooperation between the parliaments of both countries.

This understanding was reached during a meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Spanish President of the Congress of Deputies Meritxell Batet in Madrid today (Tuesday).

Various aspects related to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.

The Foreign Minister said Spain is an important partner of Pakistan in the European Union and Islamabad is committed to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields with Madrid.

Meanwhile, talking to a delegation of Spanish Foreign Relations Committee led by Pau Mari Klose in Madrid Spain, Foreign Minister said Pakistan attaches special importance to its bilateral relations with Spain and there are vast opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of trade, economic and mutual interest between the two countries.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi stressed on importance of exchanging parliamentary delegations for promoting bilateral cooperation.

He said that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is very important for regional security and connectivity and Pakistan, along with the international community, would continue its efforts to improve the situation in Afghanistan and save Afghan citizens from economic crisis.
