Dr Zahid Anwar Khan (Educationist): Empowerment of women is top priority of incumbent government therefore the government has undertaken a large number of initiatives. These initiatives are of vital significance because of the fact that women make almost 50% of our population so depriving them from the education will be tantamount of depriving half of our population from education. The International Conference on Female Education is also one of these initiatives. It is essential to impart our women to enable them fully participate in our national development. Our religion is not a hurdle in the way of female education but vested interests of some elements are main hurdles in this regard. Pakistan is a model for other countries as it has taken steps which lead to the empowerment of women.
