The United States has approved a major arms sale of 13.9 billion dollars to Indonesia.

In a statement, the US State Department said it is vital to US national interests to assist Indonesia in developing and maintaining a strong and effective self-defense capability.

The sale to Indonesia includes up to 36 F-15 fighter jets, engines and related equipment, including munitions and communications systems.
