Special Assistant on Interior Attaullah Tarar has said that holding simultaneous elections across the country under the caretaker setups is in accordance with the spirit of the constitution.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said this is important to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.

He said the money bill Charged Sum for General Elections of Provincial Assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been introduced in the National Assembly and only the parliament will take a decision on it. He said the parliament is the supreme and sovereign institution and it has the right to do legislation. He said we believe in the rule of law.

The Special Assistant said PTI Chairman Imran Khan is hiding behind stay orders and not appearing before courts in different corruption cases including Toshakhana. Alluding to Imran Khan's stance on Cipher, he said it is the hallmark of the PTI Chairman to take U-turns.
