Pakistan reaffirms support for sincere efforts aimed at de-escalation, dialogue in Yemen
September 11, 2026

Pakistan says it will continue to support all sincere efforts aimed at de-escalation, dialogue and a comprehensive political settlement that can bring lasting peace, stability and prosperity to Yemen and the wider region.

The remarks were made by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmad while speaking at the UN Security Council Emergency Meeting on Yemen.

The Ambassador said situation in Yemen has entered a deeply alarming and dangerous phase. He said sharp escalation of hostilities across multiple frontlines, continued Houthi attacks against commercial shipping in the Red Sea, attacks against civilian and economic targets in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the deteriorating humanitarian situation are a matter of grave concern. He said these developments, with potentially far-reaching consequences for Yemen and the wider region, also underscore the urgent need to prevent further escalation and preserve the space for diplomacy.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and prosperity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia saying it stands in complete solidarity with its leadership, Government and brotherly people. He said consistent with the UN Charter and international law, we fully support the Kingdom’s legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory, protect its citizens and residents, and safeguard its national assets against any threat.
