President urges to streamline role of mosques to accelerate Pakistan's literacy rate

President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged to streamline the role of mosques to accelerate literacy rate in the country.

He was chairing a meeting in connection with the role of "Minbar-o-Mehraab" in the societal progress in Islamabad today.

He termed providing education to the twenty seven million children as a major challenge and two hundred fifty thousand mosques in the country can proved very effective in this regard.

The President also impressed religious scholars to play their vibrant role in ending the social evils including lack of tolerance, fake news, and back biting.  He also underscored that ulema can play their role to spread awareness about pandemics, food scarcity, stunt mental and physical growth.

The meeting was attended by Federal Religious Minister Aneeq Ahmed and religious provincial ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
