Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have decided to make their visa processes more efficient and accessible for promoting economic development and people-to-people linkages.
The decision was made at a meeting between Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and the Ambassador of UAE in Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi in Islamabad today.
The UAE Ambassador expressed his country's desire to increase the number of flights with Pakistan to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and facilitate travelling between the two countries.
He said bilateral relations between the two countries have been following an upward trajectory over the years and the United Arab Emirates has encouraged its companies to invest in Pakistan, especially in communications, climate change and renewable energy sectors.
The meeting also discussed visa difficulties for Pakistanis.
On the occasion, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani said Pakistan greatly values its long-standing relations with the United Arab Emirates. He emphasized further enhancing bilateral cooperation in key sectors like Information Technology, renewable energy, agriculture and tourism.
He also apprised the UAE Ambassador of the All Parties Conference held on last Monday to extend consistent and unequivocal support to the Palestinian people.
