PM leaves for Baku to attend Climate Action Summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left Riyadh for Baku, Azerbaijan, after attending the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit.

At the International Royal Terminal in Riyadh, the Prime Minister was bid farewell by  Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al Maliki and other diplomatic staff.

During his visit to Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister will attend the Climate Action Summit” of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).  

In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will host the world leaders in the Climate Finance Round-table Conference.

The Prime Minister will also attend the high-level event "Glaciers 2025: Actions for Glaciers" organized by the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, focusing on glacier preservation.

He will participate in the high-level event "Delivering Early Warning for All and Addressing Extreme Heat," organized by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discuss the rising temperatures.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend a dinner which will be hosted by President of Azerbaijan in honor of global leaders attending the Summit.

The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with various world leaders attending COP-29, where discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing the climate challenges that Pakistan faces.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are accompanying the Prime Minister.
