Islamabad: Advisor to Finance Minister Khurram Shahzad has said that International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other donors have hailed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision on economic development. While speaking in Radio Pakistan’s program ‘Perspective’, Advisor to Finance Minister said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held successful and valuable meeting with Managing Director IMF Kristalina Georgieva. Prime Minister highlighted government’s agenda of economic reforms with special focus on energy and structural reforms in other sectors. He said that IMF MD supported views expressed by Prime Minister Shehbaz and sought proposals and plans from him in this regard. He said that Prime Minister also apprised IMF MD about progress on reforms in privatization, right sizing and civil servant sectors. He said that the government was trying to bring forth drastic reforms in economic sector along with right sizing in the government departments. Responding to a question he said that Uraan Pakistan program was an agenda to achieve sustainable and inclusive national economic growth. “Uraan Pakistan program reflects government’s vision for economic uplift and it will be implemented along with introduction of key structural reforms. He highlighted that private sector led growth would result in surplus to exports. To another question, he said that the government was encouraging solar energy promotion in the country. “Incentivization of solar energy sector may also cast good impacts on climate change” he maintained.
