US Congressional Delegation comprising Jack Bergman, Thomas Richard Suozzi, Jonathan Jackson, and other senior officials, called on Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad on Saturday.
The meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan-U.S. bilateral relations, particularly in the realm of development cooperation and future collaboration across various sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasized that in the realities of new geo-politics, there is a need to establish a new equilibrium in Pak-US relations based on the ground realities, mutual trust and development focused partnership.
He proposed enhanced cooperation in the education sector and urged the importance of "Pak-US Knowledge Corridor" and the establishment of campuses of top-tier American universities in Pakistan.
Ahsan Iqbal called for academic partnerships and joint programmes to develop a highly skilled human resource base, critical for Pakistan's sustainable growth and future prosperity.
He also underscored the importance of renewed collaboration in climate resilience and disaster preparedness.
Referring to the information technology sector, the Minister welcomed interest from US companies looking to expand their presence in Pakistan.
Underlining the vital role of small and medium enterprises in driving economic growth, the Minister called for increased collaboration in this area with US businesses.
The US delegation acknowledged Pakistan's immense potential across various sectors and stressed the need to engage the private sector to unlock investment opportunities and build investor confidence.
The delegation reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen the strategic relationship between the two countries and enhance collaboration in key areas.
The delegation extended invitation to the Planning Minister to participate in the seminar on promoting Pak-US Relations being held on 30th of this month in Washington.
