Provincial Disaster Management Authority of Punjab has issued heatwave alert, warning of extreme temperatures across the province.
According to a spokesman of the Authority, the temperature in Southern Punjab areas will remain six to eight degree centigrade more than usual while in Upper Punjab areas, temperature will remain four to six degree centigrade higher than usual from Monday to 18th of this month. He said there is also a chance of melting of ice in the Northern Areas with increase of temperature.
Meanwhile, the Relief Commissioner Punjab, Nabeel Javed directed the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to remain on alert. He cautioned the public, especially children, women and elders, to remain careful and avoid unnecessary activities outside home.
