International Nurses Day was observed on Friday to acknowledge invaluable contribution to health care and health security. This year, theme of the day was our nurses, our future.

World Health Organization’s Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr Ahmed Al-Mandahri, in a statement, said as we progress towards universal health coverage it is imperative to invest in the nursing workforce.

He said we must respect nurses’ rights and well-being to secure global health.
