Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noël Barrot.    

The Deputy Prime Minister informed that Pakistan has shown restraint throughout the crisis and only exercised its right to self-defence, in line with the UN Charter and international law.

He said Pakistan will continue to work in a responsible manner for maintaining regional peace and security.        

The French Minister conveyed condolences over the loss of innocent lives.

Welcoming the ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India, he emphasized the need for both sides to exercise restraint.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close contact, including through multilateral fora.
