October 12, 2026

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed Pakistan's support for V20's climate finance agenda.

He expressed these views during the 17th V20 Ministerial Dialogue on the sidelines of the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Finance Minister appreciated the V20's support in developing Pakistan's Climate Prosperity Plan and identifying bankable projects to attract climate finance.

He emphasized the importance of fiscal responsibility and the need to strengthen domestic and external buffers against climate challenges and geopolitical shocks.

He highlighted opportunities to mobilize green investment, referring to Pakistan's inaugural green Panda bond.

Welcoming the proposed fund initiative, he stressed the importance of collective ownership, accountability and effective implementation.

Muhammad Aurangzeb cautioned against initiatives remaining unimplemented, citing the Loss and Damage Fund.
