Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to work on upgradation on Railway Main Line One (ML-1) on priority basis.   

Presiding over a review meeting regarding matters relating to Pakistan Railways in Islamabad today, he said ML-1 is the backbone of Pakistan Railways.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan will also provide trade corridors to other regional countries in future through its railway system and ports. He said the government is taking various steps on priority basis for the rehabilitation of Pakistan Railways.

The Prime Minister said people are utilizing and taking benefits from education, health and communication projects including motorways initiated during the PML-N term.

He also lauded the efforts of the officials of Pakistan Railways for restoration of rail network after the recent devastating flood in the country.

The meeting was informed that Railways ticketing system has been completely digitized while work on digitalization of other sections of Railways is underway.
