The European Union has launched a one billion dollar aid initiative for Gaza.

The initiative was launched at the Palestine Donor Group meeting in Brussels today to support the ongoing and planned recovery projects for the people of Gaza.

Twelve European countries and Japan are part of the initiative, together with the World Bank and the European Investment Bank.
