UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an immediate end to all attacks in the Gulf region, and urged Iran and the United States to urgently resume negotiations.                            

In a statement, spokesperson for the secretary General Stephane Dujarric said the UN chief has called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid further escalatory action.                             

The spokesperson said the Secretary-General has also reiterated the urgent need for restoration of full freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
