A meeting of Steering Committee for Coordination Regarding International Assistance for Flood Relief Activities was held in Islamabad today (Thursday).
Acting Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs Humair Karim chaired the meeting to review international financial assistance for flood relief.
The meeting was attended by the United Nations Resident Coordinator, representatives from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, European Union and relevant federal ministries.
The meeting was briefed that currently Pakistan is still in the phase of providing immediate relief to the flood affected areas.
Ministry of Health briefed the meeting about the spread of malaria and dengue and the urgent requirement of anti-malarial medicines in the flood hit areas.
The National Disaster Management Authority also presented a brief overview of the floods situation and ongoing relief and rehabilitation work in the country and highlighted the relief work.
