Analyst hails government’s resolve against terrorism
January 14, 2025

Brig (R) Rashid Wali (Defense Analyst): The government’s resolve against terrorism is laudable; terrorism is a proxy war imposed on Pakistan to hinder China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and economic stability of Pakistan. India and armed groups in Afghanistan are behind the terrorism in Pakistan. There are terrorists’ training bases in Paktia, Khost and other areas in Afghanistan. They are using arms and ammunition left over by the Americans. Unfortunately the provincial government of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) is more focused on protest demonstrations and politics instead of focusing on the menace of terrorism and other core issues. Moreover, police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have not been developed enough to fight out terrorism despite the fact they are direly in need of attention of the provincial government. However, it is positive that our law enforcement agencies (LEAs) are quite capable to chase the terrorists despite having meager resources. Pakistan has been very active on regional and international diplomatic forums on the issue of terrorism. We have also bilateral engagement with Afghan administration. Pakistan has been highlighting these issues at regional and international forums to put pressure on Afghan government to stop promoting terrorism.
