Govt pursues policy to boost private sector, end unemployment: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government is actively pursuing a policy to promote the private sector to end unemployment in the country.

Chairing a meeting on the Prime Minister Youth Program in Islamabad today, he said the Uraan Pakistan project will create new employment opportunities across the country. He said equipping youth with professional skills is essential to increase employment opportunities.

The Prime Minister said that NAVTTC and the Prime Minister Youth Skill Development Program should play their roles in promoting technical and professional skills. He emphasized that Pakistan’s future is linked with the development of the IT sector. He directed the formulation of a plan as per market needs of friendly countries to provide employment opportunities to the youth abroad. He also instructed taking action against fake and unlicensed companies providing employment abroad.

The Prime Minister was informed that a platform titled Prime Minister Digital Youth Hub is being established soon, which will keep the youth informed about jobs and other services. He directed introducing the Digital Youth Hub in all local languages along with English to make it accessible to the public.

The meeting was briefed on the progress of the Prime Minister Youth Employment Plan, measures to equip the workforce with skills required in the international market, and other projects.
