The Joint Action Committee Azad Kashmir has called off its protest in the state, following the historic relief package worth 23 billion rupees by the federal government.
The Azad Jammu Kashmir government issued notifications for subsidy in prices of flour and electricity immediately after intervention of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to resolve the issue.
As per the relief package, price of flour has been reduced from 3100 rupees to 2000 rupees per 40 kilogram.
Under the subsidy on electricity, the domestic rates will be 3 rupees per unit for usage between 1-100 units, 5 rupees per unit for usage between 100-300 units and 6 rupees per unit for the 300-above slab.
Commercial rates of electricity have been fixed at 10 rupees per unit for 1-300 unit slab and for 300 above slab, it has been fixed at 15 rupees per unit.
The historic endeavor by federal government not only led to amicable resolution of the issue but also thwarted the nefarious intentions of elements who horned in on the situation for political point scoring.
