UN Security Council has imposed an arms embargo on South Sudan to revitalise the peace process.
A US-drafted resolution won the minimum nine votes needed while six member states abstained.
US Ambassador to UN Nikki Haley said adoption of resolution was necessary to stop the violence.
But South Sudan's UN Ambassador Akuei Bona Malwal told the council, the resolution will undermine peace and is a slap in the face of those organisations that are trying to bring peace in South Sudan.
