Wife of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was laid to rest at Jati Umra in Lahore on Friday evening.

Earlier, her funeral prayers were offered at Sharif Medical City Complex.

Renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel led the funeral prayers.

Besides her husband, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, prominent personalities who attended the funeral include Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar, President AJK Masood Khan, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, PML(N) leaders Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Sartaj Aziz, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the delegations of PPP, Jamaat e Islami, MQM and other political parties.

People belonging to different walks of life, political parties and a large number of PML (N) party leaders and workers also attended the funeral prayers. 

Her Rasm e Qul will be held on Sunday afternoon after Asr prayers.
