Sardar Masood pledges support for higher education in AJK

Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Chancellor of state-based universities, Sardar Masood Khan, has underscored the vital importance of providing quality education and a supportive learning environment to the youth of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

He was talking to senior faculty members at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) at its King Abdullah Campus (KAC) in Chatter Kallas.

Acknowledging the progress made by state-based universities despite numerous challenges, Sardar Masood Khan said the Universities in AJK are striving for academic excellence, and their consistent progress is a testament to their resilience and dedication.

He specifically praised the achievements of UAJK, which has earned a notable position in the national academic landscape. He said UAJK’s commitment to quality education, its research contributions, and its recent recognition in the Times Higher Education Ranking are commendable.

The former President assured full support for public-sector universities in AJK, recognizing the challenges they face and vowing to assist in their growth.

During the interactive session, faculty members raised several questions, to which Sardar Masood Khan provided insightful responses, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to the development of higher education in the region.

Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi welcomed the former President, expressing gratitude for his continued support for higher education institutions in AJK. He acknowledged Sardar Masood Khan’s invaluable guidance and encouragement in advancing the university’s goals

Prof. Dr. Abbasi also highlighted several recent milestones at UAJK, including successful academic collaborations, advancements in research, and the university’s future strategic plans.

After the meeting, Sardar Masood Khan visited newly-established laboratories at KAC, developed with support from the Saudi Fund for Development. These state-of-the-art facilities reflect the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and academic excellence. The laboratories, equipped with cutting-edge technology, were praised by the former President as a significant asset for research and education.
