Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has emphasized the need for safe, orderly and regular migration.

He was addressing the first parliamentary dialogue on migration governance, in Islamabad today.

The Chairman Senate said Pakistan's parliament is proactively addressing emerging issues like migration from holistic view. He said our priorities are to protect the rights of workers, open legal pathways for migration, facilitate the fair transmission of remittances, ensure ethical recruitment and secure decent work for the workers.

Alluding to millions of Pakistanis living and working abroad, the Chairman Senate said they sustain families across every province and their remittances remain Pakistan's largest source of foreign exchange.

Highlighting the issue of climate change faced by Pakistan, the Chairman Senate called for international support for greater adaptation, emphasizing the need for international finance that is accessible.
