Afghanistan produced the first shock of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 when they beat defending champions England by 69 runs in New Delhi on Sunday.
Batting first, Afghanistan scored 284 runs for all out in 49.5 overs.
For Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz with 80 runs and Ikram Alikhil with 58 runs remained the main scorers.
Spinners Rashid Khan with 23 runs and Mujeeb Ur Rahman with 28 runs contributed in a lower-order flourish that saw Afghanistan put up a competitive total and allow their bowlers to go all-out against the England batters.
In reply, England were all out for 215 run in 40.3 overs.
For England, Harry Brook with 66 and Dawid Malan with 32 runs remained the main scorers.
Mujeeb-ur-Rehman of Afghanistan, who took three wickets and made 28 runs on 16 deliveries, was declared player of the match.
