APHC condemns India’s rejection of Kashmir as an int’l dispute
February 16, 2025

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference says India’s unilateral actions taken by Modi government in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on and after August 5, 2019 are blatant violations of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement said the abrogation of Article-370 in August 2019 disregarded the territory's disputed status recognized by the United Nations.

He condemned India’s refusal to accept Kashmir as an international dispute and said that New Delhi's settler policies are in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

He expressed grave concern over the deteriorating health of incarcerated Hurriyat leaders, including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Aasiya Andrabi in Indian jails.

Talking to media in Badgram, Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq called for the release of Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in jails for years without fair trials.

He condemned the Waqf Amendment Bill, emphasizing that no consultation was held with Muslim stakeholders before its introduction in the Indian Parliament.

The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement in Srinagar slammed the Indian police crackdown on Islamic literature, describing it as an attack on religious freedom.

Congress IIOJK President Hameed Karra has also criticized the BJP for ignoring the uplift of the Kashmiri people.
