The UN Security Council has extended the mandate of UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan for another year, amid rising concerns about security and human rights.

The Council unanimously adopted a resolution drafted by China, reaffirming the UN's role in supporting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The resolution also expressed serious concern over the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan which continue to constitute a threat to international peace and security.
