Joint candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League-Q Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has been elected as Speaker of the Punjab Assembly.

He secured two hundred and one votes while his rival Chaudhry Iqbal bagged 147 votes.

Later, outgoing Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal administered oath of office to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

Assembly to be run impartially with equality: Parvez Elahi

Newly elected Speaker of Punjab Assembly, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that he will run the Provincial Assembly impartially with equality.

During his short address in Punjab Assembly after taking oath, he said that all members of the House are respectable for him.

He thanked Allah Almighty and Chairman PTI, Imran Khan for his election.
