Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins called on Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor in Islamabad on Wednesday.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on promoting interfaith harmony, peace and development in the region, including Afghanistan, and other matters of importance.

Mufti Abdul Shakoor said Islam and the Constitution of Pakistan guarantee rights of minorities. He said seats of have been reserved for minorities in all houses of the parliament of Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Neil Hawkins said that over one hundred thousand Pakistanis have been living in Australia. He said cricket plays an important role in bringing the people of Pakistan and Australia closer.
