Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar says provision of justice to litigants is the prime responsibility of judges.

Addressing a Pakistan Bar Council seminar in Lahore today (Saturday), he said the judiciary is independent and verdicts are being given in accordance with the law and the constitution.

The Chief Justice said delay in provision of justice is a major challenge for the judiciary.

He advised the lawyers to play their active role in providing justice to the victims. The Chief Justice said the judicial system should be evolved on modern lines to live up to the situation and remove flaws from the system.

He said the country cannot progress unless we get rid of the menace of corruption and every organ of the state will have to play its due role in this regard.
