Pakistan has demanded the establishment of a special tribunal and accountability mechanism to investigate Israel's war crimes against Palestinians.

Speaking at  an Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly on the Situation in Palestine, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said an international protection mechanism should also be established to protect Palestinian civilians especially women and children in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem from further attacks and oppression by the occupation forces and extremist colonialist settlers.

The envoy emphasized the need for intensified international efforts in the search for a durable and peaceful solution of the conflict.
