The Senate resumed its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday with Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani in the chair.
At the outset, the House offered fateha for the departed souls of the martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar tragedy and senior politician and PML-N leader Siddique-ul-Farooq.
The House unanimously referred “The International Institute of Technology, Culture and Health Bill, 2024” to the Joint Sitting of the Parliament for consideration.
Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar says Pakistan is a leading country in narcotics seizures and performance of our institutions is far better as compared to other regional countries.
Highlighting the government’s measures to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, he said Pakistan contributes twenty percent in the confiscation of narcotics from all around the world.
The Minister said that 133 metric tons of narcotics were seized till November this year.
He said conviction rates in this area are also very reasonably high and it comes to eighty five percent.
