Death anniversary of renowned painter artist, intellectual and designer of official logo of Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television Abdur Rahman Chughtai was observed on Tuesday.

Abdur Rahman Chughtai created his own unique, distinctive painting style influenced by Mughal art, miniature painting, Art Nouveau and Islamic art traditions.

He is considered to be national artist of Pakistan.

Abdur Rehman Chughtai designed various postage stamps for Pakistan Post from 1949 to 1960.

He was awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz Award in 1960, and the Pride of Performance Award in 1958 by the President of Pakistan in recognition of his meritorious work. 

He was also given the title of Khan Bahadur by the British Empire in India in 1934.

 Abdur Rahman Chughtai died on this day in 1975 in Lahore.
