South Korea, the United States and Japan held naval missile defence exercises today to enhance security cooperation to counter North Korea's missile threats.

South Korea's navy said the drills were held in international waters between Korea and Japan focusing on mastering response procedures for scenario of a North Korean missile attack.

South Korean and US air forces are separately set to begin their 12 days drills from today.
