April 17, 2025

Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a pathway to climate resilience, environmental sustainability and improved human well-being.

Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Musadik Masood Malik expressed this commitment, while chairing a high-level meeting with a five-member delegation of UNDP-Pakistan in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Minister said Pakistan is engaging all relevant governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to ensure that no one is left behind in the journey towards a sustainable and climate-resilient future. He pointed out that Pakistan, as one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, stands at a crucial juncture. He said investments in clean energy, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable urban development, and ecosystem restoration are key priorities to drive sustainable growth and enhance resilience to climate shocks.

The UNDP-Pakistan's delegation was led by UNDP-Pakistan's country representative Samuel Rizk, who briefed the Minister on various aspects of Sustainable Development Goals and Pakistan's progress on different goals, particularly climate change, environment, education, health, gender equality.
