At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for a coordinated effort to assist the vulnerable nations of Asia-Pacific region in confronting the climate change-related challenges like floods, heat waves, water shortages and melting glaciers.
This was proposed by Prime Minister's Special Assistant, and convener of the National Parliamentary Taskforce on Sustainable Development Goals, Romina Khurshid Alam while speaking at the 4th Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies Between the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in New York.
She underscored the need for knowledge sharing and utilization of collective experiences and expertise to chart a path toward a consortium that focuses on disaster risk reduction strategies for the Asia-Pacific region.
Romina Khurshid said Pakistan recognizes the critical importance of aligning its efforts with the Paris Agreement to the temperatures limited to 1.5 degrees and the 2030 UN Development Agenda.
