October 17, 2026

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that 12 million people have benefited from the government's fuel subsidy scheme so far.

He was speaking during his visit to Gujranwala today to condole the death of former MNA and PML-N leader Mahmood Bashir Virk.

The Prime Minister said that despite the difficult economic situation due to the war in the Gulf, the government tried its best to provide relief to the common man.

Speaking about the imposition of Governor's Rule and Emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Prime Minister reiterated that the federal government was compelled to do so due to the provincial government's lack of cooperation in countering terrorism.

He said he had assured the KP government of the federal government's support in fighting terrorism together but the PTI's only interest was in protests and spreading chaos in the country as they did in the past.

The Prime Minister said the federal government made every possible effort to reach a breakthrough in talks with the PTI and avert the imposition of Governor's Rule and Emergency.
