Tensions have risen between India and Australia after the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi that his government cannot stop legal right to expression of pro-Khalistan Sikhs in Australia.

Modi government has demanded a ban on Khalistan Referendum taking place on Sunday, at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Meanwhile, dozens of pro-Khalistan Sikhs rounded up and forced closure of India’s honorary consulate in Brisbane.

Australian government has also issued an updated ravel to its citizens against travelling to India due to a high risk of violence in certain states.
