Govt encouraging investment in technology parks: Shaza Fatima

A three-day 24th edition of Asian Forum’s Information Technology Commerce Network (ITCN) started at Expo Centre, Lahore today.

Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja was the chief guest while Secretary General, Digital Cooperation Organization, Deemah Al-Yahya was guest of honor.

In this edition, a delegation of international investors belonging to twelve counties is participating along with an investment of five hundred million dollars. Over seven hundred stalls have been established and renowned international and national technology companies participating in this event.

Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja while addressing at the opening ceremony of ITCN exhibition has said that it is an honor for Pakistan to be founding partner for digital cooperation organization which is a testimony to Pakistan’s readiness to be one of the leading partners and stakeholders in the global IT-eco system.

She said Pakistan’s digital progress and its position as a global stakeholder is underscored by its vibrant  youth as Pakistan produces 10,000 IT graduates every year.

The Minister of State said that together we will make Pakistan an IT hub as IT is the key towards growth of all sectors.

She said that government is taking full measures for the IT sector, in this regard, adequate funds have been kept in the budget. Additionally government is focusing on youth to excel in IT by providing smartphones, laptops to them.

She said that opportunities the IT sector holds for our people come with challenges that we are ready to face and the government is committed to address these challenges and will help you in every way, including ecosystem, policy making and providing a conducive environment.

Shaza Fatima said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's vision is to support businesses and government is trying to remove all obstacles in business.

She further stated that government is encouraging investment in technology parks.

She added that Pakistan is one of the three largest freelance countries and thousands of youth being given free training under PM Youth Programme.
