The UN has strongly condemned the killing of a Turkish diplomat in an armed attack in Iraq's northern city of Erbil.

Special representative of UN Secretary-General for Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, in a statement has urged for a thorough probe into the attack.

He said this heinous attack cannot be justified under any circumstance.
