The government has planned a massive awareness campaign about energy conservation in the country.

This was stated by Managing Director of National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, Dr Sardar Mohazzam while briefing media persons in Islamabad about key initiatives related to National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Policy.

He said the campaign will be launched in collaboration with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The Managing Director said some 29 action points have been identified in major sectors, including energy, industry, building, transport, agriculture and cross-sectoral, for achieving the goal of energy conservation and efficiency.

Speaking about the proposed Energy National Action Plan, Dr Sardar Mohazzam said it can help save 6.4 billion dollars annually.

He said out of total annual imports of 80-82 billion dollars, the share of energy stands at around 27 billion dollars.
