Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says boosting exports is essential for achieving economic self-reliance and reducing Pakistan's dependence on foreign assistance.

Talking to newsmen in Lahore, he said industry is the backbone of the national economy and is now showing signs of growth.

He said positive economic indicators of the country are being acknowledged by the international community.

Ahsan Iqbal stressed the importance of improving the quality of Pakistani products and expanding their access to international markets.
