Chief of US Central Command General Michael E. Kurilla says Pakistan’s counter-terrorism operations are critical to maintaining stability and security in the region.

In an interview with APP, General Kurilla said he looks forward to continuing efforts with Pakistan’s new army chief General Asim Munir in combating the shared threats to regional security.

Expressing his commitment to strengthening the Pak-US military-to-military ties, he said this relationship has long been viewed as critical to American interests and the region.

The CENTCOM chief, who concluded his two-day visit to Pakistan from December 14 to 16, termed his visit “great” as he met the Army Chief General Asim Munir and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.

General Kurilla said he was very much impressed by the professionalism of Pakistan Army leadership.

He said during his meetings with Pakistan army leadership, they discussed opportunities to address key mutual defence interests.

He said the objective of his visit was to further the partnership and relationship that the United States and Pakistan built over the last 75 years.
